Besides the Key FCI Team members (below), our staff consists of the finest engineering, development, sales, marketing, administrative and IT personnel who contribute to both management and technical solutions. We also maintain contact with a variety of talented engineering consultants who can be recruited as needed for larger projects.

R. Joseph Dale, President
Mr. Dale has been President of Formula Consultants Inc. (FCI) since forming the company in 1978. Under his leadership, FCI has earned a reputation as one of the foremost software development companies in the Unisys marketplace. Formerly, he was Chief of Technical Planning and Integration for the County of Los Angeles Data Processing Department, responsible for all hardware and software migration plans, procurement reviews, and installations. Prior to that, Mr. Dale was an operating systems specialist with Sperry Corporation, and supported sales and installations of 1100 Series systems throughout Sperry's Western Operations. In the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972, he was the officer in charge of operating systems software at the Air Force Global Weather Central. Mr. Dale holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of lllinois (Bronze Tablet award for highest honors) and a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Michigan.

Bud Schultz, Vice-President Under Mr. Schultz's leadership in Marketing and Sales, FCI has delivered products and services to many of the world's airlines, state and local governments, numerous federal agencies, and a wide variety of domestic and international commercial customers. Mr. Schultz was responsible for the original development of STAR- 1100, the premiere tape management system used by companies throughout the world. Formerly, Mr. Schultz participated in the development of Hardware/software plans for the County of Los Angeles' Unisys operations center. Prior to that, he was the manager of Systems Software Support for Arizona State University, and spent time with Sperry providing pre and post customer support. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the North America Unisys User Association (UNITE). Mr. Schultz holds a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Tony Sapienza, Vice-President Having joined FCI shortly after its formation, Mr. Sapienza's responsibilities, at different times, have included sales and marketing, program management, technical consulting, and software development. He is a highly versatile IT professional with extensive experience in the industry. Mr. Sapienza has guided teams through all phases of defining and developing new products and services, conducting market research, supporting systems and driving sales. Prior to joining FCI, he provided on-site support for Sperry Corporation's operating, communication, on-line transaction and database management systems, serving as post-sales customer liaison for their County of Orange account. Mr. Sapienza holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona, and has pursued graduate studies in Engineering and MS at the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles.

Craig Preston, Dir Admin Srvcs Craig Preston's responsibilities include finance, contracts, human resources and administrative operations. He has extensive experience in all facets of administration and accounting. Mr. Preston has a degree in Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo and a Master in Business from California State University at Fullerton. He has worked in administration for over 20 years, including a position as Vice President Controller for a chain of printing stores, where he was responsible for all areas of administration and finance. He joined FCI in 1996.

John Cawley, Project Mgr Mr. Cawley's entire career has been in project management and program management, with a focus in software development of complex hardware/software integration solutions. His involvement at FCI spans the entire skill repertoire and life cycle of bringing a complex solution to the market in an entrepreneurial setting. Cawley is very knowledgeable in formal development processes, and during his FCI tenure has led development teams in projects such as MAPPER migration, large-scale database integration, and web-hosted solutions for manufacturing companies. He has further contributed to FCl's success in the areas of documentation and sales presentations. Before joining FCI, Mr. Cawley developed banking transaction applications on IBM systems for First lnterstate Bank, and developed welfare applications using online transactions services on Sperry mainframes for the County of Los Angeles. Mr. Cawley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Gary Markowski, Mgr Prod Support Mr. Markowski has a long and distinguished career in management of software development and projects, both for marketable products and customer-specific solutions. At FCI, he directs the software engineering staff in designing enhancements and new requirements for all FCI products, and manages development and support for the UNISYS 2200 Client System Component (CSC) interface to the Sun StorageTek Automated Cartridge System (ACS) robotics tape library. Mr. Markowski also manages world-wide customer support for FCl's varied software products. He has given multiple presentations for the North America Unisys User Association (UNITE), including being the recipient of the Best Presentation Award at the annual UNITE Technology Conference. Before joining FCI, Mr. Markowski worked as a Technical Analyst and programmer for the Connecticut Labor Department.
